Episode 29: Stalled on Sweaters

Welcome viewers! Glad to have you all back!
Hello Donna and Becky, new viewers!  Don't forget to subscribe to be updated on new posts.
I am DaniGirlCO on Instagram, Periscope and Ravelry.
Here are the show notes for Episode 29:
On the Needles:
Knitting Projects -
FO's: Hermione Hearts Ron for my niece out of Kollage Happiness Worsted.  Already gifted so I don't have it to show you.
Fusion 800 shawl from Cat Mountain Fusion 800 yarn.  Discovered I don't like mohair.

WIPs:
Kiama cardigan out of my handspan.  From Norah Gaughn.  US size 9 needles.  Over half done, ran out of handspan.  Ordered more fiber, but had to go with Ashland Bay merino roving in Sage, because I couldn't find the Ashford Fibres merino/silk blend in sage.    UPDATE: colors don't match
Transverse cardigan by Ann Weaver out of Cascade Eco+.  Size 8 needles.  Adjusted pattern slightly so I could do sleeves in the round vs flat.  Right sleeve finished, right front finished, left front started and joined to back.

Stalking - On the Spice Market by Melanie Berg, already bought the kit.

Acquisitions - kit for Spice Market in a lovely color way, going to do a KAL with my knit group,
Blue Sky Alpacas (Worsted Hand Dyed- 2001 Dungaree Blue)

Spinning Projects -
none,

Under the Needle:
Sewing Projects -
got my block of the month quilt back from the quilters, need to trim it up and make binding

In the Garden: Nothing.

Watching:  Periscoping Sisters with sisters Debby Reece and Amy Meeks.  Starting from the beginning and loving it.
New roof installed.  Recorder for my niece for Christmas.  Love you sis!
Thanksgiving was really good.  95th birthday party for Mr. HPL grandma, so saw a lot of family.  Still thinking about making some Christmas cards to send out.  Missed my last few therapy sessions.  Am I stalling out?  Depression or procrastination?

Thanks for watching!

Episode 28: It's Snowing!

Welcome viewers! Glad to have you all back!
I am DaniGirlCO on Instagram, Periscope and Ravelry.
Here are the show notes for Episode 28:
On the Needles:
Knitting Projects -
FO's: Man Thing hat for Mr. HPL, in Malabrigo Rios in Pearl Ten color way.  Hubby calls it purple, even though it's a dark grey.  Added to my PigskinParty2016 end zone thread.

WIPs:
Kiama cardigan out of my handspan.  From Berrocco, which means Norah Gaughn.  US size 9 needles.  Over half done, ran out of handspan.  Ordered more fiber, but it's not the same.  Had to go with Ashland Bay merino roving in Sage, because I couldn't find the Ashford Fibres merino/silk blend in sage.  Ashford had other color ways I could find online, but not the Sage.  I did an internet search, looked on Webs, Paradise Fibers, etc.
Transverse cardigan by Ann Weaver out of Cascade Eco+, actually swatched for this.  Size 8 needles.  Adjusted pattern slightly so I could do sleeves in the round vs flat.  Right sleeve finished, front/back started.
Blueberry waffle socks out of Opal in summer colors.  I'm going to frog out the heel because I don't like the way it fits.

Stalking - Hermione Hearts Ron for my niece who loves Harry Potter

Acquisitions - some batiks for strip swap, neutrals for hexis, ordered lavender yarn, accidentally got worsted vs dk

Spinning Projects -
none, I'm waiting for the fiber to come in.

Under the Needle:
Sewing Projects -
Working on the binding for my double wedding quilt table runner, cut on the bias

In the Garden: Nothing.

In the Beeyard -
nothing

Off Topic:
Watching: Grocery Girls are back!  It's only been a little while while Traci was on vacation, but I've missed them!
Waiting on getting the new roof installed.  We're back on the list, had materials delivered but snow is getting in the way.  From 80 degrees F to snow!
Thanksgiving is next week!  So soon!  Thinking about making some Christmas cards to send out.
Visited Phoenix again to spend time with the family and had a great time.  I think it helps with my depression, not just seeing the nieces and my sister but being placed into their schedule.  I do better with a schedule, and I know that.  That's one of my therapy goals, establishing and keeping to my own schedule.

Thanks for watching!

FO's: Celtic Myths shawl by Asita Krebs, is blocked and beautiful
Linum Tee by Bristol Ivy, using Classic Elite Bella Lino yarn, sz 3 needles.  I went with a K1P1 rib on the sleeves.  Still have 2 balls of yarn left.

WIPs:
Kiama cardigan out of my handspan (a merino silk blend).  From Berrocco, which means Norah Gaughn.  US size 9 needles.
Transverse cardigan by Ann Weaver out of Cascade Eco+, actually swatched for this.  Size 8 needles.  Adjusted pattern slightly so I could do sleeves in the round vs flat.
Blueberry waffle socks out of Opal in summer colors because I needed another pair to tote around.

Stalking - Man Thing hat for Mr. HPL

Acquisitions - Malabrigo Rios for the hat, some gorgeous singles I have no idea for.

Spinning Projects -
none, I'm in a slump

Under the Needle:

Mystery Block of the Month quilt got borders added and is off to the long-armer.
Cousins wedding quilt was bound and I made the hand off with my mother to have it delivered.

In the Garden: Need to start fall clean up, pulling weeds, mint (never-ending), etc.

In the Beeyard -
Still getting hive removal calls.  I have to turn them down.

Episode 26: Celtic Cables are Done!

Welcome viewers!
I am DaniGirlCO on Instagram, Periscope and Ravelry.
Here are the show notes for Episode 26:
On the Needles:
Knitting Projects -
FO's: Celtic Myths shawl by Asita Krebs, need to clear off the guest bed so I can block it.

WIPs:
Linum Tee by Bristol Ivy, using Classic Elite Bella Lino yarn, sz 3 needles.  I connected the shoulders using a 3 needle bind off (my first), need arm bands and it's done.
Blueberry waffle socks out of Opal in summer colors because I needed another pair to tote around.

Stalking - Nothing, trying to stay faithful to current knitting. Although the Transverse Cardigan in my queue will be moving into projects soon.  Looking for Berroco pattern book #294 Origami.  It has the Kiama pattern in it that I would love to make out of handspan, but can't purchase a digital copy.  From 2010 so it's not in stores anymore.

Acquisitions - fabrics

Spinning Projects -
none, I'm in a slump

Under the Needle:
Sewing Projects -
Mystery Block of the Month put together with sashing/cornerstones.  Need to figure out a border. I'm now addicted to EPP hexis, slowly growing larger. Not sure what I'll do with it.  All of these are using 1800's reproduction fabrics.
Cousins wedding quilt is back from the long-armer, now I "just" need to bind it.  Again, it's huge and unwieldy.

In the Garden: Need to start fall clean up, pulling weeds, mint (never-ending), etc.

In the Beeyard -
Will start again in the spring with a swarm.  First time since 2012 I haven't gone into winter with a hive.

Off Topic:
Watching: Listening - Down Cellar Studio with Boston Jen
Are you playing in any KALs?  What are they?  I'm participating in the Down Cellar Studio podcast Pigskin Party 2016 KAL.  If you're not a member of the group already and want to play along, let me know because I can get points for "drafting" somebody.  I normally watch some of the games anyway, but this year I'm playing in some fantasy football leagues so NFL Redzone is my friend.
Took a motorcycle trip over the 17th to Snowmass, CO.  Four passes in two days, leaves changing, balloon glow and a free concert.  It was really good, and I didn't have to push myself too hard to be social.  Still took time to recuperate after though.
Received a lovely package from Roseanna of Meli Melo Arts with some stitch markers.  Take a look at her Etsy shop.

Thanks for watching!

Spinning Projects -
none

Under the Needle:
Sewing Projects -
Lots of blocks for the Mystery Block of the Month. I'm now addicted to EPP hexis.

In the Garden: Hail pretty much took it all out.  Flowers are recuperating but there won't be a hops harvest.

In the Beeyard -
Looks like I had a hive on the porch in the honey supers I set out.  Then they disappeared.  Was it pesticides?

Off Topic:
Watching: I skip this section this week.
Are you playing in any KALs?  What are they?
Spent 2 weeks in Phoenix enjoying my nieces, so didn't get a lot done knitting wise.

Thanks for watching!

Stalking - things for the Colors of the Season KAL, swatching for the Linum tee,

Acquisitions -

Spinning Projects -
none

Under the Needle:
Sewing Projects -
Nicole's wedding quilt, some new blocks, trying to get my rear in gear already.

In the Garden: we had yet another hail storm, and my rhubarb is still recovering.  Perennials are blooming and growing.  Hops are about 7-8 ft tall now.

In the Beeyard - Extraction party went great, if messy.  Everything got sticky.  Hubby used it as excuse to buy a power washer.  Rented extractor from the Pikes Peak Beekeeper's Association.

I've gone out on two swarm calls, but I only managed to get one, and not sure if I got the queen at that.  Installed in a hive.  Checked them yesterday and they were still there but didn't see any brood or eggs.  Not enough population to make it worthwhile to requeen.
Also did a hive extraction for a lady with bees in her house.

In the Beeyard - And the bees are . . . one of the two hives has died out.  Low populations probably couldn't keep brood warm?  Saw queen in the second hive, but also several swarm/supercedure cells.  They haven't swarmed yet, but . . . I reversed the hive boxes (top to bottom) so we'll see if that helps.  Suffered a bit of heat exhaustion doing hive inspection, so it's a good thing Jason and Sarah were there.  Jason ended up hauling everything out that needed it.  Thanks Jason and Sarah!
